Hidden costs of going it alone
Suite life isn’t always sweet
You became a Hair Stylist to create beautiful transformations, not to become a stressed-out business owner juggling endless responsibilities while watching your hard-earned money disappear.
Financial Stress
Every month, that booth rent is due—whether you had 5 clients or 50. Add in supplies, insurance, processing fees, and taxes, and suddenly you're keeping less than you thought.
- Monthly rent: $1,700+
- Monthly supplies: $1,733+
- Hidden fees: $200+

Salon Leader
"After five years in a private salon, I returned to Hair Cuttery—and I’ve already doubled my income. But it’s the support, the culture, and the sense of belonging that truly make the difference. Coming back reminded me what it feels like to grow with a team that’s always in your corner."
—Barb Ragnoli

Assistant Salon Leader
“I grew up coming to Hair Cuttery with my mom. I started as a receptionist, became a stylist, ran my own salon—but I missed the team, the support, and the culture that made me love this industry. Coming back as a Salon Leader feels like coming home.”

frequently asked questions
Here are some fast answers to commonly asked questions to help you.
Is this a commission-only position?
Not at all! Our compensation model is designed to put you in control of your earnings. You can earn up to 75% commission, based on how you manage your chair and clientele. The more you put in, the more you take home. Remember, no cost to you for booth use or product use! And here’s the best part: we offer a guaranteed hourly fallback as a safety net—so if commission ever pays less in a given week, you're still covered.

What kind of schedule will I have?
At Hair Cuttery, we understand that flexibility and consistency are key to your success.
If you already have a book of business, you’ll have the ability to maintain a schedule that works for your clients—so long as a station is available, you're free to stick with what your clientele is used to.
If you’re building your book and relying on walk-in traffic, we’ve got you covered. We know our business flow well and will schedule you during peak hours to help you grow your client base quickly and effectively.
We do keep schedules consistent week to week, because a reliable schedule makes it easier for clients to rebook—and for you to build lasting relationships.
Bottom line: Our goal is to set you up for success and help you earn the income you deserve.
How do I bring my existing clientele to Hair Cuttery?
Bringing your current clients with you is simple and seamless!
We use Zenoti, a user-friendly POS and booking system that makes managing your schedule a breeze. Once you’re set up in the system, you can:
- Pre-book your existing clients’ appointments
- Build out standing appointments for regulars
- Share your Hair Cuttery location’s booking link
- Invite clients to use the Hair Cuttery Guest App to book with you directly
No hassle, no complicated setup—just a smooth transition to keep your book strong and growing.
Do I have to offer all services?
Hair Cuttery is a full-service salon, which means our stylists are trained to perform a wide range of services—including women's and men's cuts, color, highlights, styling, and more. We’re proud to say: we’re more than just cuts!
That said, we know every stylist has strengths and areas they’re still developing. Whether you're feeling a little rusty on something or looking to take your skills to the next level, our dedicated Education Department is here to support you.
With ongoing training and growth opportunities, you’ll always have the tools you need to build confidence, expand your skill set, and succeed.
What products are available for clients?
At Hair Cuttery, we offer a wide range of professional products to meet every client's hair care and styling needs. From our very own Cibu® line (yes, we’re big fans!) to trusted salon brands like Redken, Paul Mitchell, Biolage, American Crew, and more—we’ve got something for everyone.
Whether your client needs moisture, volume, color protection, or styling support, we have the perfect product to help them maintain their look between visits.
What product line does Hair Cuttery use for chemical services?
We’re proud to be a Redken salon, using some of the best professional color products in the industry to deliver consistent, high-quality results.
For chemical services, we use:
- Redken Color Gels Lacquers – our go-to for rich, permanent color
- Redken Shades EQ – the world’s #1 demi-permanent color, perfect for toning, refreshing, and glossing
- Redken Flash Lift – a powerful lightener for achieving beautiful, vibrant blondes

These top-tier products help us create custom looks while protecting the health and integrity of your client’s hair.
We're committed to using only trusted, salon-quality brands that give our stylists the tools to do their best work.
Do I need a cosmetology license to work at Hair Cuttery?
Yes—a current and active cosmetology or barbering license is required in the state where you plan to work in order to perform cutting, coloring, and other salon services.
However, if you're a beauty school student, you're not left out! If you've met the qualifications, you may be eligible for our Future Pro Program—a fantastic opportunity designed for rising professionals to gain real-world salon experience while completing their education.
